About Us

We are the proprietors of Brighton Park Boarding Kennels & Cattery.  Go to our links page to find out more info in regards to boarding options if you are living in or visiting Tasmania.

We live in Brighton Tasmania on 28 acres of lovely land.  Our dogs share our lives together with our 2 horses Roy and Cassie, the Maine Coon cat Badger, and the farm moggie Tia, together with a handful of chickens, birds and fish.

We are member of the PIAA(Pet Industry Association of Australia) and the RSPCA, and follow strict codes of conduct in relation to the care of all of our pets together with everyone's boarding pets.

Rod is an accredited ANKC Herding judge and loves the chance to get our dogs out working with the stock. He has completed his Certificate in Animal Care and RUV98 Veterinary Nursing Training Package. He is lucky enough with the boarding kennels to be able to spend part of each day with our furkids.

Tania works as a Practice Manager in a Financial Planning Firm in Hobart and races home to spend time with as many of her animals as possible, giving them lots of love and attention when travelling to dog shows on the weekends.

We purchased our very first cattle dog Lou back in the early 90's as a pet.  She was gorgeous and very cheeky and quickly made us learn what this breed was all about.  After about 18 months,  a friend of Rod's had a pure bred registered cattle dog which was about to have puppies, it was agreed that we would be having a little male puppy added to the family.  When going to have a look Tania fell in love with a blue male, but Rusty chose Rod and that was that, he came home with us.

He was registered so we transferred him and then we thought we would give the show ring a try.  He quickly became an Australian Champion and so our attachment to this breed and the show ring begins!.

We then added our first breeding female, Charm, from Karen Copeland's Baleaburra kennels.  Charm was different in personality all over again.  We had great fun with her in the show ring, despite the fact that she was missing part of her ear thank's to Rusty, when he was guarding the meat from the butchers!  Her beautiful puppies then started to add to the Tangarlee family.

Pretty much every year we added to our stock, next came gorgeous McNally from Dee-Anne Mcarthy's Australblue kennels.  McNally is Tallawong bloodlines and added the strong head and bone that you see in all of our puppies today.

We then added Maggie, Mollie, Violet, Norman, and in later years Lily, Diva, Cosmo, Eileen, Bella, Jethro and Trevor.

Approx 7 years ago we also added our kelpies to the Clan from Cass Robertson's lines Ringabarka Kelpies, starting with Sam, Wilma, Shep, Beau, Benny and Delta.

Kelpies are different all over again compared to the Cattle dogs, and so our learning with this breed continues.

We have a lot of people to thank for helping us firstly get into the breeds, and teaching us everything along the way, from allowing us to purchase our first breeding dogs,  show handling, grooming, whelping litters and most of all providing great friendship.  You all know who you are, thank you.
